This drum set exceeded my expectations in every way. It came complete with cymbals, drum sticks, all stands/hardware, and a drum stool. Was pretty easy to put together with the supplied web site and video (took approx. 1 hour from start to finish). It has a sharp look to it, and has a good sound – it’s definitely loud! My neighbors are going to love me. It appears to be very sturdy. Really can’t think of any negatives, and I’d highly recommend it to anybody looking for a beginner/starter set.

This is an ok drum set for a beginner. The cymbal is very cheap and after a while starts to bend if you keep hitting it in the same spot. Snare needs lots of tuning and rings when you hit a tom. The toms are good but I would recommend to get some moon gel (MG4 Moon Gel Drum Damper Pads) for them so that don’t ring as much. The bass is good if you put a wool sweater or blanket in it to lessen the ringing. The cymbal stand is ok but the nut to hold the cymbal on needs to be tightened once in a while.

Purchased this set for my 11 year old son,which is taking advanced drum lessons.These have good quality mahogany wood shells,all stands are double braced,the Hi-hat and bass pedals have good quality chain drive. This is a complete set from throne to drumsticks. Great starter set! It will be hard to find a better set for the money anywhere! This set does come completly unassembled, but has a good website with a step by step video that makes assembly so easy that our son did most of the assembly his self. Arrived ahead of schedule in great shape!

Fender Starcaster TT-1 Electronic Table-Top Drum Kit Reviews

This is really strange, because I bought this unit on sale from another vendor (9) and like other reviewers state it turns off at higher volumes but I kept it anyways and here’s why.

As a beginner drum student, I wasn’t ready to invest in a drum set so I went with this tabletop model at a rock bottom price, comparing it to 5 other brands. My hope was that if I could get the knack of playing it after a few months, then I would consider upgrading to a full kit and hopefully sell it at an online auction for a fair price.

The first time I played along with one of the learning songs, I turned up the volume and the entire unit shut off! After some investigating, it turns out that if I turn the bass OFF, I can use it beyond a 4 volume, maybe up to a 6 on a good day. But with that bass on, the entire unit will always shut down whenever it reaches a 3 or 4 depending on how hard I am hitting the pads.

In the end, because of storage considerations and the fact that it does have a student mode, metronome and other features I have elected to keep it, deal with its defect and play it at low volume. I also took into account that just one snare practice pad runs around or so, and a metronome another .

With all those reasons combined, I figured that it’s still a good value for practice reasons, because returning it and finding another model for the same price or even a little more was not an option at the time of purchase.

In reading these reviews it seems that its a common defect, so buyer beware. I would still take my chance again and see if you end up with one that doesn’t have this problem because it is a fabulous value.

Received this as a Christmas gift last year. It seemed pretty solid but then I tried to play it. First thing I noticed was that one of the drum pads wasn’t attached properly, kind of flopping around. I took the palm of my hand and pressed it into place. Plugged it in and started to play. THE SOUND WAS GREAT! Much better sounding than Casio or even Yahama kits I’ve tried.

Then I realized I didn’t have the pedals plugged in. Plugged them up, tapped the kick bass pedal twice and the whole thing shut itself off. I turned it back on, started to play, tapped the pedal……..every time the same, turns itself off. Customer support for this product from Fender is pretty much non-existent.

This is a real shame. Fender lent their good name to this product. And it sounds great. And it’s junk.

Percussion Plus 5 Piece Drum Set #PP3500 – Black Reviews

Percussion Plus is not a name that immediately conjures up images of professional quality music gear, however, I believe drummers would be pleasantly surprised at what they are getting out of this set for the money.

In this day of mass produced instruments where one factory can make parts for 2-3 or different companies, much of the hardware and production of Percussion Plus drum sets is strikingly similar to other beginning student line drum kits out there today. The shells, tom posts, bass drum spurs, shell covering, etc. etc. are very parallel to most of the other starter drumsets.

As a drummer and teacher I wasn’t too excited to hear about these sets coming into the local music store. Now having seen them and having tuned a few, I feel that they’re going to hold up well to the needs of beginning and intermediate drummers who are playing in school band, their parent’s garage, and even getting into a few shows(cymbals excluded).

I’m still not too excited about the generic looking logo on the front bass drum head or the cheapo look of the snare shell, but the major issues of decent bearing edges, shells in-the-round, decent tuning range, hardware that works, and other issues have been solid up to the time of this writing.

One area I definitely feel could use some improvement is the pedals (both hi-hat and bass). They’re functional and will work for a beginner, but they will be way lightweight for a drummer who progresses into jazz, and especially into advanced rock with double sixteenths etc. Some players would buy new gear like a hi-hat or double bass pedal (or a new set!) at this point in their progress, so maybe it isn’t that big of a concern for someone just starting out. Also, the cymbals are lightweight and basically like playing on……well, they’re not very inspiring to hit or to look at – but this is the same situation with most all student line drum kits (unless you’re paying for a cymbal upgrade-Planet Z, B8, ZBT and so on).

If you are looking for a solid kit with hardware that won’t fall apart and drums that should last the duration of a beginning/intermediate drummer, this kit would have my approval as equivalent to the sound and durability of other entry-level drumsets in its price range.
